HOUSTON, Sept. 28
– Abraxas Petroleum Corp., San Antonio, is drilling the vertical section of the Dlugosch-1H well in DeWitt County, Tex., below 8,000 ft toward the Wilcox formation at about 10,000 ft.

The well is to be completed with 15 stages of fracture stimulation in a 5,000-ft horizontal leg. Abraxas owns a 100% working interest in this well.

Meanwhile, Blue Eagle Energy LLC, the recently announced joint venture between Abraxas and Blue Stone Oil & Gas LLC, plans to spud its first horizontal Eagle Ford well, the T Bird-1H, in the 2010 fourth quarter with the rig drilling the Dlugosch well.
