HOUSTON, Sept. 23 – Callon Petroleum Co., Natchez, Miss., has placed on production its first Haynesville shale well in North Louisiana, which holds the company’s acreage in the play.
Callon plans to remobilize a rig to the area once natural gas prices warrant continued development.
The George R. Mills 1H well went on production Sept. 3. Callon is restricting the rate to 10-12 MMcfd of gas equivalent to prevent damage to the completion and maximize ultimate recovery.
The well is flowing through casing at a rate of 10.5 MMcfe/d on an 18/64-in. choke with 7,000 psi wellhead casing pressure. It is still cleaning up.
