HOUSTON, Sept. 10 – Murphy Oil Corp., El Dorado, Ark., obtained a position in the Exshaw/Bakken oil play in southern Alberta under an agreement with Kainaiwa Resources Inc., a corporation owned by the Blood Tribe First Nation.
Murphy will acquire 129,280 acres of prospective oil and gas properties. The 5-year lease calls for the drilling of at least 16 wells.
Exshaw/Bakken is Murphy’s fourth North American resource play after Seal Lake, Montney, and Eagle Ford.
