HOUSTON, July 24
-- Oil and gas operators in the Gulf of Mexico evacuated personnel from 106 production platforms in advance of the arrival of Tropical Storm Bonnie, which was downgraded to a tropical depression on July 24 as it crossed the gulf, the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation, and Enforcement said.

BOEM’s Hurricane Response Team said operators evacuated personnel from 15 drilling rigs. From the operators’ reports, BOEM estimated 51.65 % of the oil production and 23.53% of the gas production was shut in. Gulf production as of March 2010 was estimated at 1.6 million b/d of oil and 6.4 bcfd of gas.

The production percentages were calculated using information submitted by operators in daily reports. Shut-in production information is based on what the operator expected to produce that day. The shut-in production figures are estimates, which the BOEM compares with historical production reports.
