HOUSTON, Mar. 31
-- The Energy Institute (EI) merged with the British Energy Association (BEA) to form UKWEC—the UK Member Committee of the World Energy Council (WEC).

UKWEC operates within EI as a special network enabling member companies and individuals to participate in WEC research activities.

Creation of UKWEC began in June 2009 with a proposal that BEA integrate with EI to provide WEC with more expertise on UK energy issues.

WEC has member committees in most major energy-producing and energy-consuming nations. Established in 1923, WEC is known for its reports, analysis, and research.
