HOUSTON, Dec. 10
– Audax Resources Ltd., Perth, chose the multiobjective Sidi Daher prospect as its first target to be drilled in the Chorbane block onshore Tunisia. Spud date is not yet announced.

Sidi Daher is a large tilted horst block with targets in several formations producing in oil and gas fields to the east and northeast. The maximum mapped depth closure at the Eocene Metlaoui-El Gueria reservoir is 73 sq km. Similar size closures exist in other prospective reservoirs from Upper Cretaceous Abiod to Jurassic Nara.

Of particular interest is the relatively shallow Metlaoui-El Gueria, supported by a direct hydrocarbon indicator, a flat spot caused by a fluid interface, seen on seven seismic lines. The DHI flat spot area encompasses 16 sq km.

In a conservative scenario, the nummulitic Metlaoui-El Gueria reservoir is a gas-only accumulation within the DHI with mean recoverable resource potential of 175 bcf. In a more optimistic scenario, the structural closure would support a gas cap on an oil rim. In this scenario the mean case is 54 million bbl of oil plus the gas cap.
