LOS ANGELES, Dec. 18 -- Pacific Rubiales Energy Corp. expects to produce 225,000 boe/d of oil and gas in 2010 as it develops three fields in Colombia.
Pacific Rubiales Pres. Jose Francisco Arata said the company will spend nearly $500 million next year on production facilities.
When it started operations of the 235-km Oleoductos de los Llanos pipeline serving Rubiales heavy oil field earlier this year, the company expected to be producing 100,000 b/d in Colombia by yearend (OGJ Online, Sept. 17, 2009).
Pacific Rubiales earlier announced new success in its appraisal of the Quifa and Rubiales blocks in the Los Llanos basin in Colombia.
It drilled successful appraisal wells, Quifa-17 on prospect E at Quifa and Rub-357 on prospect D at Rubiales.
Chief Executive Officer Ronald Pantin said the firm plans to drill “an additional 20 exploratory and appraisal wells at Quifa in 2010."
Pacific Rubiales owns 100% of Meta Petroleum Corp., a Colombian oil operator that operates the Quifa Block in association with Colombia's state-owned Ecopetrol SA.
