LOS ANGELES, Dec. 18 -- Alange Energy has closed three transactions to become operator with a 58% working interest in the Mecaya exploration and production contract in the Putumayo basin of Colombia.

Alange also said it has acquired Gran Tierra’s 15% and 40% stakes in the Mecaya E& P contract and the Rio Magdalena association contract, respectively, for a total cash consideration of $3 million.

The Toronto firm said its assignment and the appointment as operator are subject to approval by Colombia's hydrocarbons regulator ANH for Mecaya and by ANH and state-owned Ecopetrol for Rio Magdalena.
