HOUSTON, Nov. 23 – Cretaceous Niobrara produced 50 b/d of oil and 180 Mcfd of gas at the Hageman 11-22 vertical recompletion in Fetter field, Converse County, Wyo., in the Powder River basin, said American Oil & Gas Inc., Denver.
The well is the first at which modern fracture stimulation methods have been applied to a vertical Niobrara completion in the field. It is the first in a program expected to include four more wells on 33,000 net acres.
Results to date support the company’s interpretation that a number of formations in the field, including the Niobrara, have commercial potential in addition to the Frontier formation that has been American’s primary focus so far. The company is preparing to fracture stimulate the Niobrara formation at Wallis 6-23, second well in the program.
