HOUSTON, Nov. 3 – OMV AG’s UK subsidiary has discovered gas and oil in the Tornado 204/13-1 deepwater well and sidetrack West of Shetlands in the Atlantic off the northern UK.
The discovery well found hydrocarbons in 1,048 m of water, and a sidetrack reached a total depth of 2,638 m. No details were reported. It is OMV’s first exploration success as operator on the UK Atlantic Margin.
Further appraisal drilling is needed to make a development decision, but OMV collected extensive data to allow early determination.
