Texalta Petroleum Ltd., Calgary, is spudding its fourth horizontal well at Wordsworth, Sask, to evaluate the eastern end of the Mississippian Alida oil reservoir found at a 2006 discovery well.

-- Texalta Petroleum Ltd., Calgary, is to spud its fourth horizontal well at Wordsworth, Sask, to evaluate the eastern end of the Mississippian Alida oil reservoir found at a 2006 discovery well.

Set for a Nov. 11 spud is the Texalta et al. Wordsworth E. HZ1B4-24-4B5-13-7-3w2. The discovery well, Texalta et al. Wordsworth E. HZ2A2-23-3A11-14-7-3w2, has produced 73,690 bbl of oil through September 2009.

The projected depth of the new well is 2,254 m, giving it 930 m of open hole. In plan view, it will traverse 1,145 m across the west half of 13-7-3w2.
