HOUSTON, Nov. 3 -- Hess LNG Crown Landing LLC, a newly formed affiliate of Hess LNG, has acquired all of BP PLC’s ownership interests in Crown Landing LLC.

Crown Landing is a planned 1.2-bcfd LNG terminal on the Delaware River near Logan Township in Gloucester County, NJ, approved by the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in 2006.

Local opposition, however, has stalled the project. And earlier this year, BP cited LNG economic factors for deciding in late 2008 to postpone plans for the terminal (OGJ, Mar. 9, 2009, p. 56).

Hess LNG’s announcement said the company “sees Crown Landing as a strategic location for a potential LNG facility.”

Hess LNG LLC is a joint venture owned equally by Poten & Partners and Hess Corp., both of whose headquarters are in New York.
