A group led by Pluspetrol Angola Corp. has spud the Castanha-1 exploration well in the Cabinda Onshore South Block in Angola as of Nov. 13.

HOUSTON, Nov. 25
– A group led by Pluspetrol Angola Corp. has spud the Castanha-1 exploration well in the Cabinda Onshore South Block in Angola as of Nov. 13.

Castanha-1, first exploration well in the 2009 program, targets a primary objective in the presalt sequence. No further information is to be released until the well’s outcome is known.

Block interests are Pluspetrol Angola 45%, Force Petroleum de Angola SA and Sonangol P&P 20% each, Lacula Oil Co., a subsidiary of Roc Oil Co. Ltd., Sydney, 10%, and Cuba’s state Cubapetroleo 5%.
