HOUSTON, Oct. 14 -- Karoon Gas Australia Ltd. and Vietnam American Exploration Co. LLC (Vamex) let a contract for a 3D seismic survey on Block Z-38 in the Pacific off Peru to start in November.
The survey, to cover at least 670 sq km over the main prospects, follows a 2,393 line-km 2D survey completed in March. The 4,875-sq km block is 25 km west of Corvina oil and gas field and 15 km north of Peru's giant coastal oil fields.
Following Perupetro and government approval, equity interests in the block will be Karoon Gas 60% and Pitkin Petroleum PLC through its Vamex subsidiary 40%.
