HOUSTON, Oct. 23
– Reliance Industries Ltd. and Hardy Oil & Gas PLC plugged the first well in the D9 exploration license block KG-DWN-2001/1 in the Krishna-Godavari basin off India.

KGD-A1 went to 4,875 m true vertical depth below rotary table to explore Middle and Lower Miocene targets. It had background gas while drilling but encountered poor
reservoir sands in both targets, Hardy said.

Three more wells are to be drilled. Interests in the 11,605-sq-km block are Reliance 90% and Hardy 10%.
