HOUSTON, Oct. 15
– Pacific Rubiales Energy Corp., Toronto, said the Quifa-10 appraisal well on its Prospect H near Rubiales heavy oil field in Colombia found a 44-ft gross oil column in Carbonera basal sands topped at 2,889 ft measured depth.

Petrophysical evaluation indicates 20 ft of net pay with 32% average porosity at Quifa-10, 1.1 km from the Quifa-7 discovery well and 2 km from the Quifa-8 well on Prospect E.

Quifa-10’s results reinforce the company’s belief that the area comprising the D, E, H, and I prospects is connected to Rubiales field and that the company is appraising the reservoir into the Quifa block.

Pacific Rubiales plans to add six appraisal wells on the D, E, and H prospects and three exploratory wells on the A, B, and C prospects to its 2009 program. The appraisal wells represent the initiation of the process to declare the commerciality for the south-southwest part of the Quifa Block.
