Chevron, KJVG let Barrow Island LNG port contract

Chevron Corp. and Kellogg Joint Venture Group (KJVG) let an $809 million (Aus.) contract to Boskalis Australia Pty. Ltd., a subsidiary of Royal Boskalis Westminster NV of Papendrecht, the Netherlands, for the design and construction of a port at Barrow Island as part of the Gorgon-Jansz-Io LNG project.

MELBOURNE, Oct. 22 -- Chevron Corp. and Kellogg Joint Venture Group (KJVG) let an $809 million (Aus.) contract to Boskalis Australia Pty. Ltd., a subsidiary of Royal Boskalis Westminster NV of Papendrecht, the Netherlands, for the design and construction of a port at Barrow Island as part of the Gorgon-Jansz-Io LNG project.

Boskalis also will construct a material offloading facility; a roll-on, roll-off facility; and 200 m of quay walls and some mooring dolphins.

Work will begin in 2010 and is scheduled for completion by yearend 2011.

KJVG partners are Clough Projects Australia Pty. Ltd., KBR E&C Australia Pty. Ltd., JGC Corp., and Hatch Associates Pty. Ltd. Group and is the engineering, procurement, and construction management contractor for the downstream and logistics sector of the Gorgon project.
