– Maersk Oil had indications of hydrocarbons in a well on the BM-S-29 block on the Santos basin shelf off Brazil, said participant OGX Petroleo e Gas Participacoes SA, Rio de Janeiro.

The 1-MRK-2A-SPS well is still drilling, and more data are needed to determine the significance of the shows, OGX said. Block interests are Maersk Oil 35% and OGX 65%.

The well is in 100 m of water 130 km off Sao Paulo state.
