WASHINGTON, DC, Oct. 15 -- The US Bureau of Land Management is seeking public comments until Nov. 13 on a proposed natural gas exploration and development project 6 miles northeast of Rifle, Colo.

BLM said Williams Production Co.’s Flatiron Mesa master development plan proposes up to 93 wells from one existing pad on BLM land, one proposed pad on BLM land, and two proposed pads on private land beginning this year.

The master development plan also details construction of up to 1.5 miles of access roads and up to 5.3 miles of pipelines, the MMS said.

The project would cover about 4,000 acres of land already leased for oil and gas development. There is no public access due to gated private land.

BLM said that its Glenwood Springs field office in Silt, Colo., requires operators to submit master development plans for a broad evaluation of plans and impacts, and identification of environmental impacts and appropriate mitigation measures.

Written comments and questions can be directed to the Glenwood Springs BLM field office at 2300 River Frontage Road, Silt, Colo. 81652. Comments may also be submitted at [email protected].
