HOUSTON, Sept. 11
-- Total E&P UK Ltd. agreed to acquire a 43.75% in UK License P967, which includes the Tobermory natural gas discovery.

The agreements, making Total the operator, are with Mobil North Sea LLC, Marathon Oil UK Ltd., and Anadarko North Sea Holding Co. Ltd. Terms were not disclosed.

The Tobermory discovery well was drilled in 1999 in 1,600 m of water about 175 km northwest of the Shetland Islands.

Total said the acquisition is in line with its strategy of developing its UK position, particularly in the vicinity of the company’s operated Laggan and Tormore gas-condensate discoveries.

The Tormore discovery well is in 610 m of water 15 km southwest of the Laggan discovery, successfully appraised in 2004 (see map, OGJ, Aug. 20, 2007, p. 38).
