MELBOURNE, Sept. 17 -- Carnarvon Petroleum Pty. Ltd., Perth, and partner Pan Orient Energy Corp. made two oil discoveries in Thailand.

Carnarvon said the Bo Rang A wildcat, designated BR-1RDST1, flowed 686 b/d of oil and 3.29 MMcfd of natural gas on test, confirming a commercial discovery. It is the first horizontal well drilled in the Bo Rang reservoir.

The second discovery was drilled in Bo Rang B field, where the BR-2ST1 well test-flowed oil at 36 b/d.

Pan Orient as operator successfully adapted its drilling program to overcome complex geology within the reservoir. An additional seven wells are scheduled before yearend. The companies will submit environmental plans for another 19 surface pad locations from which multiple wells are scheduled for drilling in the region during 2010.

A production license is expected to be granted by yearend.
