HOUSTON, Sept. 17 – Gastem Inc., Montreal, has spud the Ross-1 exploration well near Maryland in Otsego County, NY, to test Ordovician Utica shale, Devonian Marcellus shale, and Silurian Oneida sands.
The vertical well is projected to 5,000 ft. The drillsite is south of Covalent Energy’s successful Scheckells-1 well drilled in mid-2007. Gastem is operator with 80% working interest in 35,000 acres nearby.
