MELBOURNE, Sept. 10 -- BHP Billiton has let a $12 million contract to Clough Australia for front-end engineering and design work for Macedon natural gas field in retention licence WA-12-R off Western Australia.
The development concept includes four subsea wells feeding into an 85-km subsea wet gas pipeline to an onshore gas processing plant. Processed gas will be then fed into the Dampier to Bunbury trunk line.
Scope of the work includes project management, engineering, safety and environmental risk management, and procurement support. Clough will also develop a cost and schedule estimate and project execution plans.
The FEED execution team will be based in Houston.
Macedon was discovered in 1992 by the West Muiron-3 discovery well. Follow up appraisal work confirmed the new find in 1994.
BHP has a 71.43% interest and operatorship in Macedon, while Apache Energy Corp. holds 28.57%.
