BANGKOK, Aug. 26 -- Carigali-PTTEPI Operating Co. Sdn. Bhd. (CPOC) is on course to start natural gas production from Block B-17 in the Malaysia-Thailand Joint Development Area (JDA) in October.
Anon Sirisaengtaksin, chief executive of Thailand's PTT Exploration & Production (PTTEP), a stakeholder in CPOC, confirmed the production start-up date, which is a year behind schedule.
First gas from the block will come from Muda, one of the gas fields in the 3,475 sq km production-sharing acreage, southernmost of the Gulf of Thailand.
Muda is expected to produce 140 MMcfd before ramping up to 270 MMcfd, the daily contract rate agreed upon with the gas buyer, Thai majority owned energy firm PTT PLC.
Installation of the central processing platform, with topside weighing 18,000 tonnes, as well as a floating storage offloading vessel is in the final stages.
The Muda central platform is being joined with four wellhead platforms already in place.
CPOC is an equal partnership joint venture of PTTEP and Malaysia's Petronas.
