LONDON, July 31 -- Jacky field in the UK North Sea is producing over 11,000 b/d of oil, according to operator Ithaca Energy (UK) Ltd.

Jacky started flowing 8,800 b/d of oil naturally on Apr. 6. Flow increased immediately when a downhole pump was activated. “Daily rates continue to increase,” Ithaca said.

The company plans to drill a water injection well in the third quarter of 2009.

Prior to development, officials figured artificial lift would be necessary to achieve gross production of 7,900 b/d (OGJ Online, Apr. 22, 2009). Jacky is 10 km northeast of Beatrice oil field in the Inner Moray Firth area of the UK continental shelf.

In June, the field produced an average of 9,300 b/d. Ithaca is receiving over 10,900 b/d from Jacky and Beatrice fields at the Nigg oil terminal.

Ithaca Energy holds a 67.275% interest in Jacky. Dyas UK Ltd. holds 22.725%, and North Sea Energy (UK) Ltd., 10%.
