    Coker contract let for Jubail refinery

    Saudi Aramco Total Refining & Petrochemical Co. has let an engineering, procurement, and construction contract to Chiyoda Corp. and Samsung Engineering for a coker unit at the 400,000-b/d export refinery to be built in Jubail, Saudi Arabia.

    HOUSTON, July 9     -- Saudi Aramco Total Refining & Petrochemical Co. has let an engineering, procurement, and construction contract to Chiyoda Corp. and Samsung Engineering for a coker unit at the 400,000-b/d export refinery to be built in Jubail, Saudi Arabia.

    The coker contract is one of 13 process packages for which the joint venture approved an awarding plan in June after a delay last year during which Aramco assessed projects in light of global economic problems (OGJ, June 22, 2009, Newsletter).

    Aramco and Total formed the joint venture in third quarter 2008. Aramco holds 62.5% and Total, 37.5%. Aramco plans to offer 25% of the joint venture to the Saudi public out of its share in an initial public offering in the last quarter of 2010.
