Aramco production capacity at 12 million b/d

LOS ANGELES, July 31 – Saudi Aramco Chief Executive Officer Khalid al-Falih, in an interview with the pan-Arab daily newspaper Al-Hayah, said production capacity of the state-owned firm reached 12 million b/d in June.

He cited the start-ups of Nu'aym oil field, with a production capacity of 100,000 b/d of Arab super light oil, and Khurais with capacity of 1.2 million b/d of Arab light, and the expansion of Shaybah oil field’s capacity by 250,000 b/d of extra super light Arab oil.

He also said production capacity of Khursaniyah oil field, which started up last year, had reached 500,000 b/d.

Al-Falih, who gave the interview in Paris after meeting with Total SA CEO Christophe de Margerie, also said an agreement has been reached with the French firm to reduce the contractual cost of building the 400,000-b/d joint-venture refinery at Jubail from $13 billion to $9 billion (OGJ, July 20, 2009, Newsletter).
