LOS ANGELES, June 22 -- Vietnam’s state-owned Petrovietnam has begun operating a natural gas pipeline to electric power plants and industrial parks in the country’s southeastern region from its Su Tu Vang oil field offshore on Block 15-1.
Petrovietnam said the pipeline’s initial capacity is 500,000 cu m/day, which will reach 3 million cu m/day when linked with the nearby Su Tu Den Northeast, Rubi, and Su Tu Trang fields.
Last November, local media reported that Cuu Long Joint Operating Co. (CLJOC) began oil production from the Su Tu Vang field, with plans to produce 65,000 b/d.
In April, production at the Su Tu Vang field moved forward when J. Ray McDermott SA completed and delivered a 15,500-tonne floatover deck ahead of schedule to CLJOC.
The Su Tu Vang Central Processing Platform (CPP), a fully integrated engineering, procurement, construction, and installation project, is comprised of a jacket, floatover topsides, pipelines, umbilicals, pipeline end manifolds and living quarters for 66 people.
The CPP is designed to process 100,000 b/d of oil, 35,000 b/d more than the initial 65,000 b/d output from the Su Tu Vang field. The remaining 35,000 b/d of the CPP’s capacity will be used to process output from the Su Tu Den North East oil field, where production is expected to commence in 2010.
CLJOC is a Vietnamese joint operating company comprised of Petrovietnam Exploration & Production Corp. 50%, ConocoPhillips (UK) Cuu Long Ltd 23.2%, Korea National Oil Corp. 14.2%, SK Energy 9%, and Geopetrol Viet Nam SA 3.5%.
