HOUSTON, May 6 -- W&T Offshore Inc. has let a contract to Technip for the development of Daniel Boone field in the Gulf of Mexico. Daniel Boone lies on Green Canyon Block 646 in 4,230 ft of water and will be tied back to Murphy Oil Corp.'s operated Front Runner Spar on Green Canyon Block 338.

The contract covers: engineering for the installation; welding and installation of a rigid 23-mile flowline with a flexible riser; design, fabrication, and installation of an in-line structure and pipeline end termination; and installation of a 23-mile umbilical, jumper, and flying leads.

The contract is being executed from Technip's Houston operations and engineering center. The Technip Group's spoolbase in Mobile, Ala., welded the flowline, while the group's flexible pipe plant in Le Trait, France, fabricated the riser.

Technip says offshore installation is scheduled for the second quarter. Technip will use Deep Blue, its deepwater pipelay vessel. The company expects first production for Daniel Boone in the second half.
