Parker to step down as Delta Petroleum chief executive

Roger Parker, chairman and chief executive of Delta Petroleum Corp., Denver, is resigning to pursue other business interests.

HOUSTON, May 27 -- Roger Parker, chairman and chief executive of Delta Petroleum Corp., Denver, is resigning to pursue other business interests.

Daniel Taylor was elected chairman to succeed Parker. Taylor is a Delta director since February 2008 and an executive of Tracinda Corp., Delta's largest shareholder with 34%.

Delta's board formed a committee to search for a new chief executive officer. John Wallace continues as president and will function as Delta's senior executive officer until a new chief executive is found.

Parker had been with Delta for 22 years.
