LONDON, Apr. 14 -- Nigerian firefighters have extinguished a blaze that shut in flowstations feeding into the Trans-Niger oil pipeline, said Royal Dutch Shell PLC. Repairs are scheduled to start tomorrow.
Shell declined to give the volume of oil that was shut in or a timetable for restarting production. Nigerian reports have estimated that 120,000-170,000 b/d have been cut off.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated. The incident happened on Apr. 12 at the Bomu manifold in Ogoniland, in the Niger Delta.
Shell has called force majeure on the Bonny Light and Forcados facilities in Nigeria following attacks by militants.
