HOUSTON, Apr. 4 -- StatoilHydro ASA has awarded Aker Offshore Partner AS a 390-kroner ($59.5 million) engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) contract for facilitating increased gas capacity of Heidrun field, Blocks 6507/8 and 6707/7 in the Haltenbanken area of the Norwegian Sea.
The Heidrun production pipeline project involves upgrading the gas system, including the existing gas turbine compressors on the Heidrun tension-leg platform. The upgrade will increase gas capacity by 16% to 7.1 million cu m/day.
Aker expects offshore installation work to take place between fall 2009 and mid-2010.
The Heidrun concrete TLP, in 350 m of water, went on stream in October 1995.
The field exports oil mostly with shuttle tankers to StatoilHydro's Mongstad crude oil terminal near Bergen. A pipeline transports produced gas to the StatoilHydro methanol plant at Tjeldbergodden. Heidrun gas also goes into the Asgard Transport pipeline, which delivers the gas to Karsto and on to Dornum in Germany.
Operator StatoilHydro holds a 12.40% interest in the field. Partners include ConocoPhillips Skandivavia AS, 24.31%; Eni Norge AS, 5.11%; and Petoro AS, 58.16%.
