LONDON, Apr. 17 -- Maersk Olie og Gas AS will plug and abandon the Gita-1X exploration well in the Danish North Sea following a natural gas discovery in the Middle Jurassic sandstone.
A spokeswoman from Maersk, operator of the high-pressure, high-temperature discovery well, told OGJ it was too early to indicate the find's size or whether it was commercial.
The vertical well, drilled 10 km south of Harald field, reached a TD of 5,162 m on License 9/95.
The Ensco 101 jack up spudded the well Dec. 16, 2008, in 49 m of water. It was drilled in cooperation with the shareholders of License 9/95 and the adjoining License 9/06. The two groups participated with 50% each.
License partners for 9/95 are AP Moller Maersk AS 31.2%, PA Resources AB 26.8%, DONG E&P AS 20%, Altinex Oil Denmark AS 12%, and Danoil Exploration AS 10%.
Shareholders in License 9/06 are AP Moller Maersk 31.2%, PA Resources 26.8%, Altinex Oil 12%, Danoil 10%, and Nordsofonden 20%.
