LONDON, Mar. 16 -- RasGas Co. Ltd. has signed a contract with Chiyoda Almana Engineering LLC (CAEL) to secure long-term engineering, procurement, and construction management services for its LNG and gas processing plants in Qatar.

Work associated with the $300 million contract starts this month and will continue for 4 years, with RasGas holding the option to extend the contract for another year.

CAEL will focus on seven LNG plants, including two mega facilities, which will each have a capacity of 7.8 million tonnes/year, and two large gas processing plants and other facilities owned by RasGas. The project includes a plant in Ras Laffan that Chiyoda is currently building with Technip.

CAEL is a partnership of Chiyoda and local company Al-Mana Group to offer plant operation services for Qatari clients and later, to other groups in the Middle East.

Chiyoda said this service contract underpins its Plant Lifecycle Engineering business model whereby it would continue close relations with its clients to maintain, improve, and expand facilities.
