Lukoil lets contract for Bulgarian refinery upgrade

Lukoil Neftochim Burgas awarded a €10 million lumpsum FEED contract to Technip for new units at the Burgas, Bulgaria, refinery—the largest in the Balkan region.

HOUSTON, Mar. 10 -- Lukoil Neftochim Burgas AD has awarded a €10 million lumpsum contract to Technip USA Inc., Houston, for the front-end engineering design of new units at the Burgas, Bulgaria, refinery—the largest in the Balkan region.

Technip's operating center in Rome will execute the contract, which is scheduled to be completed in December 2009.

The contract covers a 2.5 million tonne/year residue hydrocracking unit, a 1.8 million tpy vacuum gas oil hydrocracking unit, an amine unit, a sour water stripper unit, two 7,500 kg/hr hydrogen units, and relevant utilities and offsite facilities.
