BPTT close to start up of Savonette platform

BP Trinidad & Tobago has announced it is a step closer to bringing its newest platform, Savonette, into production.

PORT OF SPAIN, Feb. 12 -- BP Trinidad & Tobago has announced it is a step closer to bringing its newest platform, Savonette, into production.

According to the company, when complete, Savonette's deck will be capable of producing 1 bcfd of natural gas.

It was installed Feb. 7 by the HLV Thialf.

Over the next few days the deck structure and jacket will be welded into position, completing the platform installation phase.

Savonette's jacket was installed in 2008.

Savonette will be tied into BPTT's Mahogany B platform off Trinidad's East coast.

First gas from Savonette is expected by yearend.

With Savonette installed, BPTT now has a total of 12 offshore platforms.

BPTT accounts for 60% of Trinidad and Tobago's gas production and 11% of BP's oil and gas production worldwide.
