LONDON, Feb. 4 -- BP PLC has awarded contracts potentially worth over $600 million to Halliburton to provide equipment and services for its Angolan program.

If BP sanctions its four developments, Halliburton will carry out well completions, including upper and lower completions equipment and downhole flow control. It will also perform drilling and provide completions fluids for as many as 150 wells across the four developments.

BP's Angola program will use a standardized design to help reduce costs and improve efficiency, with drilling to start in 2010. BP Angola and its partners recently sanctioned the first development on ultradeepwater Block 31, Plutao, Saturno, Venus, and Marte. First oil production is expected in 2011 from a floating, production, storage, and offloading vessel. It is expected to plateau at about 150,000 b/d by 2012.

"Commitments related to the remaining three developments are anticipated to be awarded upon sanction of the additional projects, with the drilling program taking place over a multiyear period," Halliburton said.

Other projects being planned in Angola are in the SE area of Block 31, Pazflor and CLOV on Block 17 with Pazflor scheduled to start in 2011, and the 5.2 million tonne/year Angola LNG project.
