HOUSTON, Jan. 27 -- India's ONGC Ltd. and Arrow Energy Ltd., Brisbane, have signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate on coalbed methane projects on existing blocks held by ONGC in India.

The MOU might also eventually involve cooperation in certain Australian acreage to be determined.

Arrow Energy is working to develop coal seam gas in Australia, China, India, Vietnam, and Indonesia.

Arrow Energy Chief Executive Officer Nick Davies said, "We think that the combinations of ONGC's asset base and Arrow's specific CBM experience will be a powerful force in India's CBM development. This, together with our current, exceptional partnerships in India, will give Arrow a broad collection of CBM opportunities in which to engage."
