PARIS, Dec. 18 -- Tullow Oil Uganda has awarded a front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract to independent drilling service company Dietswell, Paris, to design an offshore module to operate in 45 m of water on Lake Albert. The concept selected is a Mobile offshore drilling unit comprising a barge and drilling rig.

The contract is a follow-up of a pre-FEED study Dietswell carried out in first-half 2008 that Tullow Oil let in December 2007. Dietswell Chairman and CEO Jean-Claude Bourdon told OGJ that over the next 14 weeks it would be engaged in studies carried out by a team of 12 engineers and technicians.

He said Dietswell already had a drilling unit under construction that could be used if the contract were confirmed
