HOUSTON, Dec. 11 -- President-elect Barack Obama reportedly plans to name Carol Browner to fill a new advisory position he plans to create that would coordinate policy on energy, the environment, and climate change, Democratic aides said.
Browner was administrator of the US Environmental Protection Agencey under former President Bill Clinton. She also is an adviser on Obama's transition team.
Separately, Obama also reportedly plans to name Nobel laureate Steve Chu, director of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, as US secretary of energy, although no official announcement is expected until next week.
Obama also is expected to name Lisa P. Jackson, former New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection commissioner, as head of EPA. Jackson now is chief of staff to New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine.
