LONDON, Oct. 27 -- The Huntington Forties pool in the UK North Sea has an extension on Block 22/14a, said operator Oilexco North Sea Ltd.
This was discovered while drilling the 22/14b-9 well and the 22/14b-9z sidetrack. It produced 2,707 b/d through a 56/64 in. choke in a drillstem test showing no water or sand. The oil was a light 44°.
"The 22/14b-9 well encountered 58 ft of oil-bearing Forties sandstone," Oilexco said. Wireline pressures confirmed that the sandstones were connected with the Huntington Forties pool, suggesting that the oil pool extends from Block 22/14b onto a portion of adjacent Block 22/14a.
The 22/14b-9z sidetrack was perforated at 10,644-10,664 ft MD and struck 26.3 ft TVD of oil-bearing Forties sandstone on the flank of a seismic anomaly.
Oilexco plans to complete Huntington on a fast-track basis after its successful appraisal results on the Huntington Forties oil accumulation on Block 22/14b in 2006 and 2007.
Once the drilling program is finished, Oilexco will gain a 25.036% interest in the southern portion of Block 22/14a. The company has a 40% interest in adjacent Block 22/14b.
Pres. and Chief Executive Arthur Millholland said: "The size and potential of the Huntington discovery continues to grow, and there is no doubt that this will be a prolific development for Oilexco."
