The US Bureau of Land Management has scheduled four public meetings to receive additional comments about possible environmental impacts from a proposed natural gas pipeline that would cross four western states.
The Ruby Pipeline Project would be a 42-inch diameter gas pipeline approximately 677 miles long across Wyoming, Utah, Nevada and Oregon. It would include four new compressor stations and related facilities. The hearings will be held Oct. 14 in Montpelier, Ida.; Oct. 15 in Hyrum, Utah; Oct. 16 in Brigham City, Utah, and Oct. 22 in Lakeview, Ore.
The US Department of the Interior division said that it is holding the meetings as a cooperating agency in the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's preparation of an environmental impact statement because the pipeline would cross federally-managed lands in all four states. The US Forest Service also is participating because the pipeline would cross the Wasatch-Cache National Forest in Utah and the Fremont-Winema National Forest in Oregon, BLM said.
