LOS ANGELES, Sept. 22 -- GeoPark Holdings said it has successfully tested and placed on production the Estancia Zunilda 1 well and the Santiago Norte 5 well on the Fell Block in Chile.

The company said it drilled and completed the Estancia Zunilda well to 3,156 m TD on a new geological structure that had been defined following the interpretation of a 3D seismic program.

Following hydraulic fracture stimulation, a production test in the Springhill formation—from 3,070 m in an 8-m perforated interval—flowed 4.2 MMcfd of gas, 25 b/d of condensate, and 35 b/d of water through a 14-mm choke with 661 psi wellhead pressure.

"These are preliminary results, and the well is continuing to clean up following the fracture stimulation," GeoPark said, adding, "Further production history will be required to determine stabilized flow rates from this well and the extent of the reservoir."

A gas pipeline was constructed to connect Estancia Zunilda 1, which is now in production, to GeoPark's Kimiri Aike gas processing and compression facility, which connects with the regional gas infrastructure and the Methanex Corp. methanol plant 120 km from the Fell Block.

In Santiago Norte field, also on the Fell Block, GeoPark drilled and completed the Santiago Norte 5 well to 3,058 m TD.

Following a successful production test in the Springhill formation, at 2,955 m in an 8-m perforated interval, a pipeline was constructed, and the well is now producing at a rate of 900 Mcfd of gas, 6 b/d of condensate and 60 b/d of water through a 10 mm choke and with a well head pressure of 219 psi.

The results from this well also are preliminary "and further production history will be required to determine stabilized flow rates from this well and the extent of the reservoir," GeoPark said.

In July, GeoPark said it discovered an oil field in the Fell block following drilling and testing at its Aonikenk 1 exploration well. GeoPark said the rates were about 1,201 b/d of oil, 1.2 MMcfd of gas, and 1,465 b/d of water through a 12-mm choke and with a wellhead pressure of 896 psi (OGJ Online, July 16, 2008).
