Alon USA Energy restarts FCUU at Big Spring, Tex., refinery

Alon USA Energy Inc., Dallas, has restarted the 24,000 b/d fluid catalytic cracking unit (FCCU) at its 70,000 b/cd refinery in Big Spring, Tex.

HOUSTON, Sept. 30 -- Alon USA Energy Inc., Dallas, has restarted the 24,000 b/d fluid catalytic cracking unit (FCCU) at its 70,000 b/cd refinery in Big Spring, Tex.

The FCCU, damaged in a fire on Feb. 18, is operating at planned rates and will enable the sour crude refinery to return to its normal operating capacity. No timetable was provided for the return to normal operating capacity.

Four workers were injured in that explosion and fire (OGJ Online, Feb. 19, 2008).

An independent refiner and marketer, Alon USA owns four refineries in Texas, California, Louisiana, and Oregon.
