LOS ANGELES, July 12 -- Algeria's state-owned Sonatrach has awarded a ¥50 billion contract to engineering firm JGC Corp. for the construction of an oil and natural gas treatment facility in Algeria.

The plant, scheduled for completion in mid-2011, will separate oil and gas. It will then pipe both on to respective treatment facilities, with products eventually to be exported to Europe.

JGC will design the plant and procure equipment, while its wholly owned subsidiary JGC Algeria SPA will oversee construction at the site.

Recently Saudi Aramco awarded JGC Corp. a ¥200 billion contract to supply oil treatment equipment, which includes water injection equipment and storage tanks, for the northern area of Manifa field in the Persian Gulf (OGJ Online, July 3, 2008).
