HOUSTON, July 16 -- Africa Oil Corp., Vancouver, BC, began shooting a seismic survey on July 9 on the Dharoor Valley Block in Puntland, northern Somalia.
Africa Oil holds an 80% interest in Dharoor and the more southerly Nogal block. Range Resources Ltd., Perth, holds 20%.
Africa Oil plans to shoot 2,600 km of 2D Vibroseis survey on Dharoor before drilling two wells in each of its Puntland concessions. In the Nogal basin, it has acquired all of the more than 4,000 line-km of good quality 2D data recorded in the late 1980s.
The two basins, which were contiguous with Yemen's Marib and Masila basins in the Jurassic and Cretacous periods, cover more than 20 million acres.
