HOUSTON, July 16 -- Forent Energy Ltd., Calgary, said it obtained rights to the 466,000-acre Beechhill Block in the Shubenacadie subbasin near Antigonish, NS, Canada (see map, OGJ, Aug. 5, 2002, p. 35).
The block, near Forent's 766,000-acre Alton Block, is valid for 3 years with an option to renew. Alton is adjacent to Triangle Petroleum Corp.'s Hants County block on which shale gas has been discovered.
Forent plans to explore for conventional and unconventional gas and oil on both its blocks.
