HOUSTON, July 21 -- The US Minerals Management Service has scheduled the Western Gulf of Mexico Lease Sale 207 for Aug. 20 in New Orleans.
Lease Sale 207 covers 3,400 blocks totaling an area of 18 million acres in the western gulf planning area off Texas.
The blocks are 9-250 miles offshore in 16-10,978 ft of water. MMS estimates the lease sale could result in the production of 242-423 million bbl of oil and 1.64-2.64 tcf of natural gas.
