ConocoPhillips orders Ekofisk subsea equipment

ConocoPhillips has let a 5-year, $120 million contract to FMC Technologies to supply subsea equipment and services to replace the Ekofisk 2/4 water injection platform in the Norwegian North Sea.

LONDON, July 2 -- ConocoPhillips has let a 5-year, $120 million contract to FMC Technologies to supply subsea equipment and services to replace the Ekofisk 2/4 water injection platform at the southern part of the development in the Norwegian North Sea.

FMC will manage the project as well as engineer, procure, manufacture, and deliver subsea equipment and offer offshore support services for eight subsea trees. The contract has an option for an additional seven subsea trees and future provisions for as many as 50.

Ekofisk is in 230 ft of water. FMC Technologies will provide subsea water injection trees, wellheads, templates, associated control systems with a hydraulic power unit, 4-slot hosts, tie-in and connection equipment, an umbilical, sea line protection equipment, completion tools and services. The equipment will be manufactured at FMC's operations in Kongsberg, Norway, and Dunfermline, Scotland, with initial deliveries scheduled for early 2009.
