HOUSTON, July 16 -- The "O" clastic interval in the Pennsylvanian Hermosa Group produced 7,980 bbl of oil and flared 50.13 MMcf of gas in 30 days from late May to the end of June 2008 at the Greentown Federal 28-11 well in Utah's Paradox basin, said Delta Petroleum Corp., Denver.
Gas sales began June 30 from the vertical well, in 28-22s-17e, Grand County, 34 miles northwest of Moab. The well is producing 248 b/d of oil and delivering 1.7 MMcfd of gas into the company's recently completed Greentown pipeline. Delta's working interest is 70%.
The company has produced the well consistently for the past 6 weeks, and the increase in output since its previous update is due to a salt dissolution treatment performed in mid-May.
Meanwhile, the company is in final completion at its first horizontal well in the "O" clastic interval. Greentown Federal 26-43D, just southeast of Green River, Utah, and about 7 miles northwest of the vertical well, went to 10,587 ft true vertical depth and has a 269-ft lateral.
Delta Petroleum is drilling the horizontal Greentown State 36-24H and Greentown Federal 31-36 wells in the "O" clastic interval.
The company also plans to drill laterals into the slightly deeper Pennsylvanian Cane Creek shale on the acreage.
